The worldwide coronavirus, also called COVID-19, has arrived in the United States. For most people, the immediate risk of being exposed to the coronavirus is considered low, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). There is not widespread circulation in most communities in the United States.

However, this is a health situation that continues to evolve. CDC notes the following:

  • People in places where ongoing community spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 has been reported are at elevated risk of exposure, with increase in risk dependent on the location.
