FLETCHER – The Mountain State Fair Legionnaires’ outbreak has claimed a third life, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services confirmed on Oct. 14.

The first Legionnaires’ patient to die was a Buncombe County resident, BCDHHS confirmed Sept. 24, but NCDHHS said they will not be providing further information on the three people who have died as a result of the severe respiratory disease, including age, sex and county of residence.
